Dealing With Lust In Marriage

Dealing With Lust In Marriage

There is this joke I heard of a man who got married to this tough woman who will always choose to fight him virtually over all issues, than reason with him.

A day came when they attended an evening function together.
As ladies were trying to make their way to the banquet hall, the man’s attention got drawn to a young lady wearing a provocative dress with body curvatures explicitly apparent.
He unknowingly said “see that back…”

His wife immediately screamed at him “back what?”

He wittily replied: “back of the Mercedes Benz ahead of us”

As married folks, we are not immune to lust because marriage is not an antidote to lust.

Writing from a sincere place, I’ve at different periods had to ‘reset the cranial nerve’ no I, II, III & IV in charge of vision, not to view again something’s seen that could land me in lust zone.

Lust is diverse in nature and it is against the growth of our marriage and ultimately our walk with God

2 Timothy 3:6
For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with DIVERSE LUST.

Lust is explained in different ways such as “a feeling of strong desire especially of sexual nature or “To very strongly desire without reason”

Lust is the basis for all forms of sin

James 1:14-15
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

What is that thing that we so strongly desire, that the scriptures and the spirit of God in us does not agree with?

Lust can be likened to that ‘special number that can be dialled anytime’ to get your attention.

I will only focus on Sexual Lust today.

Sexual Lust
Men are more prone to this type of lust. When it is allowed to thrive, it gives way to the sin of Adultery or Fornication. It all starts with a deliberate or indeliberate look, followed up with thoughts on what is seen then deliberate move to actualise the thought.

Remember king David got himself into trouble by looking. The bible did not specify how many times he looked but if the look is more than once, it must be a full look with concentration on details.

The problem is not really the first look, as that cannot be avoided in most cases, but the second look can really spell trouble, the third look will certainly mean disrespect to your conscience and your wife.

So next time when one suddenly see “things”, respond by controlling your sight. You can simply look away, I repeat, just look away. And if you have to look, praise God for the creation of such a beautiful being and move on.

You marriage will not break down in Jesus name.

I am wiser than the devil

If it is not yours, do not look more than once

Take a deliberate look at your wife over and over and thank God for her

I shall not be moved by the sight of any strange woman in the name of Jesus
