Dear Couple, Be Kindly Affectionate
How often do you minister to your partner’s needs?
Does it look as if you are in a competition with your spouse in your day-to-day activities or you are not just bothered whether he/she’s happy in that marriage?
Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another (Romans 12:10 KJV)
Many times, we get carried away with the societal pressures that it takes a toll on our marriage.
Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.(Philippians 2:3-4 KJV)
While settling issues and arguments with your spouse, what are you meaning to achieve?
Is it to really to resolve issues or to win the arguments and make the other person feel bad?
Look, marriage should be a win-win situation. If your spouse wins, you win also and vice versa.
Also, don’t be carried away with your own needs all the time and in that bid, losing sight of what your spouse is going through or passing through.
He/she needs you also and you have to be there for him/her at the low and high times.
Don’t wait for your spouse to recognise your contributions and praise you, recognise theirs and genuinely appreciate them for that at all times.
Don’t become so self-centred, it often leads to resentments and disappointments.
Rather, listen to your spouse, give without expecting anything in return and be concerned about him/her without reservations.
