Dear Pastor and Wife, Avoid Comparison Traps

There is uniqueness of destinies.

We were not generally created.

We are uniquely and individually packaged for our assignments.

So, there is really no point comparing.

It’s waste of precious time, energy and dissipation of energy that should have gone into creativity and innovations.

Dear Pastor, do not compare yourself with others.

If you must compete with anybody, compete with yourself.

Dear Pastor’s wife, continually comparing your husband to others is a nice way of telling God you are ungrateful for the man God has given you.

You will be far away in your thoughts.

You will find it difficult to love him.

And it will show in your conversations and actions.

It will bring frustration to your husband because he will sense what is in your heart.

If both of you are not really close to God, you will both become vulnerable.

Emotional affairs will set in.

Adultery will start sending emojis!

Unhealthy comparison is a trap!

The Bible says it’s a foolish thing to do.

2 Corinthians 10:12 (KJV) For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

There is never going to be a win in comparison.

It will bring discontentment, hurt and bitterness.

Perhaps the greatest of all is that you will never be able to be on the same page, agreement is lacking and prayers are hindered.

Is it really worth it, like fighting yourself on the inside?

Would it not be better to join hands and hearts with your spouse and trust God for the best?

Last of all, we will all have to answer God in the last day, may it not be found that your habits were a hindrance to the call of God and its fulfillment. Selah!

May God send help to you where you need it in Jesus name.

Confession:
I am not given to unhealthy comparison. I am contented in God. I am grateful to God for the gift of my spouse.
