Five Areas To Invest In Yourself As A Married Person

Five Areas To Invest In Yourself As A Married Person

Some people get married and they lose their identity. Some, especially the women, allow the weight of motherhood and taking care of the family wear them out.

Some even become a shadow of themselves. Some guys become very irresponsible and think because they now have a wife, it’s freedom to gallivant about.

Some others completely lose it all and don’t even know how to handle the married life. Wives think they are now their husbands’ responsibility and throw all caution to the wind.

They stop being an individual, forgetting that God made an investment on them, giving them certain unique gifts and talents that no one on earth has.

In marriage, don’t forget to keep yourself beautiful and happy. Don’t take care of everybody in the family and forget about yourself. Take time out to make yourself happy.

Take care of you, because if you don’t, no one else will. Don’t be too over burdened with the kids. Care for them as much as you can but don’t over do things. Don’t do things at your own expence.

Here are 5 areas to invest in yourself.

1. Invest into your own spiritual development.
I have been there too, when I was busy taking care of the home, kids and hubby at the expense of my spiritual life. I thought God was going to applaud me and pity me. He didn’t. I had to set my priorities straight and put first things first.

Your spiritual life comes before any other thing or person. You have to grow your roots downwards so that you can bear fruits upwards.

The strength you need to carry on your work effectively comes from your relationship with God. Read the story of Mary and Martha in Luke 10:38-39 for more understanding.

2. Invest in your Health
I heard a pathetic story about a mother who kept postponing seeing a doctor because she had a lot to do at home with the kids. Eventually, she broke down and by the time she was diagnosed, she had an advanced stage of cancer.

Never because of your family not take care of yourself. In fact, because of your family, take care of your self.

Read alot about your health. Know your health status and take time to invest in your health and stay healthy.

You can also indulge in things that make you happy as a person. Go to the spa. Do your facials, go to a resturant.

Form healthy habits. Do exercises and eat healthy. All those junk food will no longer help you.

3. Invest in Good Friends
The role of good friends cannot be over emphasized. The place of quality friendship is very important. Discover the blessing of good friends, neighbours, mentors, church members and good colleagues.

It is very healthy to have those to whom you share with and hang out with. However, this has to be done with a lot of caution.

4. Invest in self development
Never stop growing. You still have a whole lot of life ahead of you to live.

God has promised us life and life in abundance. Part of that life is one that is sound and vibrant. Invest in self development. Don’t get married and stop growing. You can learn an entirely new skill.

When you learn a new skill, you become young at heart.

5. Invest your money for the future
It is great discipline to save part of your income for the rainy day. Overcome the temptation of spending all your income as they come. Don’t even try spending above your income and budget.

Don’t just be satisfied with salary. Try other business, buying and selling, etc. Be proactive, think. There is still something you can do to bring in money. Lack has been known to be the cause of most quarrels in marriage. Be self reliant. Turn your hobby into something that can bring in money.

By the time you do these 5 things there will be little or no time to quarrel with your spouse.

God bless our homes
