Everybody desires or wants to have a Godly home but what parameters do you look out for? What decisions do you need to take so that you don’t miss it?
Psalms 11:3If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do.
Below are some things to look out for.
1. He/She must fear God.
You cannot be involved with someone who doesn’t fear God.
Light doesn’t mix with darkness, else, there would be chaos in that home.
That’s what we keep preaching on KHC
Yes, he/she is caring, forgiving, doesn’t drink or smoke. But does he/she fear God?Does the love of God radiate in his/her heart?Does the love of God constrain him/her?Does he/she build his/her home spiritually? Can he/she stand in gap for you?
These are things you need to look out for.
Yes, the butterflies are in your tummy but you also need to be spiritually alert. Marriage is more spiritual than what the eyes see.
2. How they treat people around them?
How do they treat their Parents, siblings, colleagues and friends?Do they disrespect them or treat them with no disregard?Do they have pride issues?
Jam 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
The enemy of a proud man is God. So if you see pride, let it go. There’s no point managing something you can’t cope with.God will bring down a proud man, and you will see all things falling to the ground. If you are proud, you need to cut it off and let it go.
3. Act of forgiveness
Forgiveness should come to you easily because you would need it more than any other thing. Either ways, your spouse would offend you the more. So have a tank of forgiveness and learn to always forgive ahead.
Peter asked Jesus.Mat 18:21-22Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, until seven times: but, until seventy times seven.
Until seventy times seven. That is 490times everyday. So you see, you need to have a reserve of forgiveness.
Your relationship shouldn’t be a place of malice and guilt, if not wrath and bitterness would set in, and you open it up for the devil to come in. Let it be filled with Love, Joy, Peace and Happiness.
4. Be Open to Communication
Communicate every day.Let no day go without you communicating with your spouse. Feel free and express your mind.
Your partner is not a magician. They cannot know how you are feeling all the time. So tell them what you feel like hearing.Tell them what you want them to do.Also, don’t keep anything away from them.
How can you be in a relationship and you can’t tell your partner where you went yesterday or you lie directly to their face? That relationship is based on falsehood and deceit and would not last long.
5. Be in agreement.
The Bible says in Amos 3:3Can two walk together, except they agree?
Work together as a team. You are always on the same team. Nobody is in competition with another. Walk with your husband, walk with your wife. Always reach an agreement.Disagree to agree.Of course, disagreements would come, but always settle it.
Your love for God and each other brought you together, so always keep that fire burning.Learn to make sacrifices.Be selfless in your love.
You might have to let go of some things in order for peace to reign or reach an agreement. Do it, because their success is also your success.
