Keeping Love Alive In Marriage

Keeping Love Alive In Marriage

It has often been said that love is not enough to sustain a marital relationship.
That is why we see couples that have been married for over two decades.
There is usually more to it. There are things that hold couples together through thick and thin.
There are things that keep fanning the flame of love.
Yes, the grace of God is available, but we have our parts to play.

Below are few tips that have proven to be of help in the journey of marriage.
The good news is they can be implemented by anyone at any stage of marriage.

1. Visit the “other room” frequently

Jeru trip in marriage is a binding force. Learn to leverage on it.
Of course, marriage is not all about jeru trip, but it’s very important. Bible says not to defraud your spouse.

2. Have a bonding time

Do things together. Go on road trips, play games, swim, vacation… do whatever you can to bond.
Take a leave from work and spend it with your family. When you retire, family is all you’ll have left.

3. Don’t go to bed angry

Even the bible tells us this. Your spouse will definitely get you angry. Even if your anger is justified, never go to bed in anger. Not against your spouse or your children. It is counterproductive.

4. Decide to walk in love

Ask those who have been married for a while. They will tell you it’s not all the time they feel like loving their spouse.
Days when feelings will disappear into the thin air, you choose to love in such situations.

5. Learn forgiveness

Yes, there may be times it will be nearly impossible, but Jesus gave us a template.
He said we should forgive 499 times a day.
No other person can offend you up too 100 times a day other than your spouse.

Our homes will be a model unto many.
