Little Gestures Often Ignored In Marriage – Part 2

Little Gestures Often Ignored In Marriage – Part 2

In the part one of this devotional, I told us how we could reignite the spark in our marriages.

We talked about

  1. Praying together.
  2. Jeru trip
  3. Spending quality time.

Let’s pick it up from there today.

4. Compliments
The power of giving and receiving compliments cannot be underestimated.
Dear wife, when last did you compliment your husband’s dressing in the morning while he is preparing for work? Oh, you thought he does not like to be complimented too?

Everyone loves good compliments. Compliment your partner’s looks, dressing, intellects and achievements and be generous with words and looks.

Appreciate your spouse as much as you want to be appreciated. It is not only when he/she does the magnanimous things you need to appreciate him/her, catch them unawares with your praises, it boosts confidence too.

5. Do something spontaneous.
Introduce something new in your marriage often. Doing the unexpected creates a different kind of spark in marriage.

Go on a cooking adventure together by cooking a new meal you both had not eaten before, surprise your spouse with his/her favourite meal, organise an outing to your spouse’s favorite location, visit him/her at work with a gift. Basically, surprise each other in ways the other person was not expecting.

All these things and more strengthens the marital bond and help couples keep each other close to heart.
It is also worthy of note that these acts have to be intentional, they are usually not so convenient at the initial stages but with time, they make us a better person and also bring out a better version of our spouses.

I believe these points have been able to help you add some spice to your marriage.

Until you read from me again, keep flourishing in your marriage.

God bless you.

My spouse and I enjoy a stronger bond and a flourishing family (Amen)

Father, I ask that you will help my spouse and I work towards creating a closer bond and not allow this life’s busyness tear us apart (Amen)

Honor marriage, and guard the sacredness of sexual intimacy between wife and husband. (Hebrews 13:4a MSG)

Try at least one of the highlighted points today.
