Medication For A Weary Soul

Medication For A Weary Soul

He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Isaiah 40:29 (KJV)

Are you weary, tired or depressed? Up here is a medication for your soul.

God can only restore and refresh your soul when you get into His presence and spend time with Him. He cannot energize a weary soul that’s faraway from His presence. I love the way the MSG version puts it here:

But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, they run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind. Isaiah 40:31 (MSG)

To wait upon the Lord is to get into His presence and stay there with Him till He energizes your soul. Being in His presence refreshes a weary soul. When we are weary, we lose our strength also, but by spending time in His presence something happens to us; in His presence is where we draw strength to navigate through life.

You can’t go on further in life if you don’t learn to draw strength from Him daily. It’s in His presence that you draw strength to go through life head-on despite the countless challenges that may have knocked you down. It’s in His joyful presence that you draw the strength to keep walking and not lag behind amidst that unfavorable situation you may be in. You need Him daily to navigate through life challenges. You don’t throw God to the back burner and then go about complaining that your soul is tired. Of course it will be at one point in time when you’re busy trying to struggle with everything life throws at you on your own.

For even young people tire and drop out, young folk in their prime stumble and fall. Isaiah 40:30 (KJV)

The sooner we understand that we are wired in a way to depend on God for everything the better for us. We can never grow weary when we learn to draw strength from Him daily. Some of us are so depressed that even a sound of our birthday approaching doesn’t put songs of praises to our lips; we feel there’s nothing to thank God for after all He hasn’t granted our heart desires yet.

We seem to forget one crucial truth that it’s not by our power that we’re alive today. Let me remind you here also that it’s only the person that God wakes up in the morning that wakes up to see the light of the day, that alone should wake up the heart of gratitude in you this very minute.

So this morning I would like you to take that capsule of medication up there. Get into His presence and lose yourself in Him. That spirit of depression that’s weighing you down will have no choice but to fly faraway from you in no time because in His presence there’s fullness of joy.

You will show me the path of life; in your presence is fullness of joy; in your right hand there are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11 (AMP)

Get into His presence with all of your struggles, depression, emotional baggage and burdens. He’s right there waiting for you to help you carry them. Oh please, don’t shut Him out, He’s very much interested in that joblessness that’s making you depressed; He’s very much interested in that disappointment that weighs you down anytime you get turned down for those jobs, He’s very much interested in that business that has refused to yield profits leaving you constantly sad, He’s interested in that heartbreak, He’s interested in that loss of a loved one that’s almost sending you into a hole, please get into His presence, because it’s in His presence that you draw strength to never give up on life amidst that harsh situation you may be in. Carrying all those burdens alone will sniff the joy out of you and leave you bone-tired.

A cheerful disposition is good for your health; gloom and doom leave you bone-tired. Proverbs 17:22 (MSG)
