Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart.
Luke 2:51 NIV
Obedience is doing what one is asked to do without complaining and doing it as at when due. King Saul was rejected from being the King over Israel because of ‘incomplete obedience’.
He was given an instruction which he did ‘half and half’ (we know the end of the story). Disobedience has a very costly price.
For our Children, the heart of obedience should be inculcated in them!
Jesus as both fully ‘God and man’ while on the earth was obedient to His earthly parents. No wonder it was so easy for Him to obey God’s instruction to die for the sins of the World. Obedience to parents is one commandment that comes with a promise (Ephesians 6: 1-3).
However, parents are admonished to give their Children instructions according to God’s Standard; help them understand that obedience sometimes is not easy but it sure has great reward at the end of the day.
In the end, Jesus was rewarded greatly for his heart of obedience with a name greater than any other name! (Philippians 2:10). Isn’t it lovely?
My Children are obedient in the Lord! Day after day, they are baptized afresh with the Spirit of Obedience.
