It is so wonderful that God uses physical truths to drive home eternal truths.
We can always relate with the natural things and use them to understand spiritual truths.
One of such truths is that we believers are like trees. Glory to God.
The trees of the LORD are full [of sap]; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
She [is] a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy [is every one] that retaineth her.
For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and [that] spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
But there is another truth that talks about the fig casting its unriped fruits before its time. Let’s take a look at that scripture.
Rev 6:13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
There are beautiful promises about the tree being planted by the rivers of water bringing forth its fruit in it season.
But God wants us to pay attention to the tree that casts her untimely fruits.
People pray, fast, seize the moment, believe God but when the fruit of their labour is almost ripe, it drops – May this not be your portion.
What can cause this?
That a child of God that should bear big, succulent fruits should have no fruits to show for it at the end of the day.
The devil is the one who wants us to cast our fruits before they are ripe.
We are like trees quite alright but He wants to make sure “there are no fruits to show for it”.
That is a frustrating place to be.
As couples, the devil wants to introduce offences, malice, unforgiving spirit, misunderstanding, quarrels, silent treatments, animosity, gossips, disobedience, compromises, adultery, office affairs, affairs, and all the vices are meant to waste your fruits.
So you have to guard your hearts and your actions so that the devil does not steal your fruits.
Let your tongue be wholesome. Have integrity. Do not lie.
Don’t cheat on your spouse. Don’t entertain malice.
Don’t walk in strife or unforgiving spirit.
This year you will not miss your harvest. You will overflow. God will surprise you in Jesus name.
God bless your marriage.
