One Area Husband’s Often Neglect

One of the things we get to choose in life is/are the friend(s) we keep and the person we marry. It is however beautiful to find friendship in the person you get married to.

A very important relationship that serves as reference point for any Christian marriage is the relationship of Christ and the church. We are exposed to the two major keys to any successful marriage from this same relationship of Christ and the church which is Love and Submission.

Eph. 5; 22 &25 KJV
Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. Husbands love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.

This morning, I will be relating to wives as the church and Christ as the Husband.

Take a look at another significant lesson from the relationship of Christ and the church which we can apply to our marriages as husbands to have a successful marriage.

John 15:5 (KJV) Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you FRIENDS; for ALL THINGS that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

The friendship lesson is what Christ exposed us to here. The man in marriage is the head which makes him to be the leader in the marriage. The wife is not the man’s servant as she is also not the man’s equal (regardless of what feminist ideologists might want us to believe). The scriptures does not at any point put the man and the woman on the same level, hence what we can learn from our Lord Jesus Christ is how he referred to the church as friends.

Firstly, what will a husband like Christ do? He said he does not call the church servants but friends. So as a husband, you need to be careful about how you address your wife.
At no point in time should your wife be addressed as servants.

How we address our women matter to them and Christ, who knew ahead that the church might not feel good if he should address her as servants, provided a template for us.

Dear Husband, be mindful of how you address your wife even when you are displeased. It will always matter to her. Let that tone of friendship reflect in how you address her always.

Secondly, everything Christ heard from the father, He made known. You should see your wife worthy enough to hear all those dreams, visions and plans God has deposited in you.

For those in ministry, whatever God has placed in your heart and your hand should not be hidden from your wife. Doing this will further strengthen the friendship bond in your marriage.
This also applies to those not in ministry.

Your marriage will last in Jesus name.

I deal wisely with my wife

I have the mind of Christ to deal with my wife

You can only expect your wife to
give you the best if you relate with her as a friend
