Practical Ways To Get Engaged In 2020

End of the year Fasting and Prayers have begun. Go HERE for more details.

Today is Saturday and someone somewhere is getting married. You probably woke up asking when it will be your turn. Or you are on the bridal train and you are in between mixed feelings…happy for your friend who is getting married and silently praying that your day will come.

Or you have been insulted and humiliated, stylishly, publicly or secretly. People have told you all your friends are getting married while you are getting old and it is really getting at you.

You are 29, almost reaching the dreaded age of 30 and you are praying seriously you won’t celebrate your 30th as a single.

Perhaps you put ‘getting married’ in your to-do-list for 2019 and this is December, there is no boo or bae in view.

These and many more make you think about your life and your relationship status.

Let me tell you something…stop thinking about it.

Yes, stop thinking about the fact that you are unmarried at this age.
Stop thinking about the fact that your juniors while in school are done with childbearing.

Do you know why?

When you think too much, you begin to worry. When you worry, you invite fear. When fear comes in, you are out of faith because faith and fear don’t flock together.

Let me show you two people in the bible who got married without thinking about marriage.

1. Uncle Joseph:

Here is a man living his purpose. He never allowed the prison limit his potential. Don’t wait until you have the perfect condition before using your gifts and skills. That idea has been in your diary for years because you are waiting for the right time to launch out.
Stop making excuses. Start making impact.

In Gen 41, after Joseph correctly interpreted Pharaoh’s dream, he got a wife.

Gen 41:45 KJV And Pharaoh called Joseph’s name Zaphnath-paaneah; and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Poti-pherah priest of On. And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt.

No stress at all. No ‘toasting’, no courtship. No parental consent. Nothing of such!

Rather than get depressed over your relationship status, focus on your purpose, talents and gift. Use it and let people know about it. Don’t bury it because you feel disadvantaged in some way.

2. Uncle Moses:

This man was busy being a good man when God gave him his wife.

Ex 2:16,17,21 (KJV) Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters: and they came and drew water, and filled the troughs to water their father’s flock. And the shepherds came and drove them away: but Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock. And Moses was content to dwell with the man: and he gave Moses Zipporah his daughter. (Read the full story in your bible).

So fast! No ‘come and see my pastor’, no ‘let me go and pray about it’…he got a wife for free.

Dear brothers, be good. When you see evil, correct it. Moses was simply against oppression and that brought him a wife.

I’m not saying you should go all out being “Mr. nice guy” to all the people you see on the street. Don’t also set out to be nice to sisters you think are potential brides. Just be yourself. Do well at all times. Be good to those around you.

Ok…one more example…

3. Aunt Rebekah:

She was just being homely. Some ladies are not homely, that is why God has deliberately kept brothers away from them. God won’t allow you frustrate any of his sons.

Rebekah also was hardworking. Don’t be lazy thinking your speaking in tongues will do the magic.

Gen 24:19-20 (KJV) And when she had done giving him drink, she said, I will draw water for thy camels also, until they have done drinking. And she hasted, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again unto the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels.

A camel can drink up to 52 gallons of water in less than 3 minutes and she drew water for ten camels….you do the mathematics.
She got a husband in the end.

There are more people in the bible and in our contemporary times, who never gave relationship or marriage a thought but God did it.
Since all the while you have been thinking and bothered, nothing has come out of it. Isn’t it wise to try a new approach in the new year?

It is my prayer that God will expound these words in your heart.

I am not worried. I walk in faith.

Ask that God will increase your faith.

Stop making excuses. Start making impact.

Consciously refrain yourself from thinking about your unmarried self.

Gen 24, 41, Ex 2
