The Day The ATM Refused Paying Me

The Day The ATM Refused Paying Me

End of the year Fasting and Prayers have begun. Go HERE for more details.

It happened that I had an urgent need to withdraw a certain amount of money from the ATM on that day!

Pause…

Let’s start this from the beginning.

A spiritual father of ours was celebrating his marriage anniversary, and so a relative of mine transferred an amount of money so I could enclose in an envelope and get across to him [I thought it was more honourable seeing him physically]

Fast forward.

It was some days to the commencement of the outreach planned in commemoration of the anniversary, and I set out that evening to his house… to deliver the package.

A good envelope… check.
I had even written the names and “Happy wedding anniversary” on the envelope…

The fire and the wood were ready, only the lamb for sacrifice was remaining… hehehe.
So I set out to make the withdrawal in an ATM enroute his house.

The first ATM I went… no service! Come on! It was a disappointment, but I still had hope.

There was only one more bank on the way to his house, and so I prayed that they would not disappoint too.

I went to the bank, and…eureka…the ATM, two out of the six there, were dispensing. But a lot of persons were there.
I joined one of the two queues ‘prayerfully’, and before I knew it, the other queue hit the rocks and I was secretly happy I had made the right choice.

Things were progressing well on my queue till about 3 persons before me!
Then that ATM stopped dispensing too!

Had I not being a believer, I would have concluded that village people were on my matter that day!

I was disappointed shaa… more so because I had another meeting to attend at that time, and so I didn’t have the luxury of time to start moving to another part of town to make the withdrawal.

After much thought, I decided to go see the man, explain my predicament to him, request for his account details, and transfer the money to his account.

And KHCites, do you know what?

I went to the man’s house, and he was not there! I was told by someone I met around that he travelled earlier that day.
[I later contacted him that evening, got his account details, and sent in the money.]

Then it dawned on me as I walked back…
Had I been able to withdraw that money, it would have imposed a heavier burden on my life! I would have had to wait till the next day and then add ‘go and pay in the cash in the bank’ to my schedule!

And then it hit me!
What I interpreted as a disappointment was actually a blessing to me! It was actually God looking out for me!

Maybe you’ve tried the ATM of a damsel’s heart, and she refused to pay you.
Can you just calm down?

Maybe you’ve given your heart to a man, and his ATM broke it.
Can you just find rest in God?

Maybe you’ve tried the ATM of a job/business, and it refused to pay you.
Can you just relax your heart?

In the midst of those disappointments, could it be that God has better plans for you?

You know Joseph?
If we look through the eyes of men, we would say Joseph had disappointments, for the ATM of his brothers’ love was out of service!
But looking through the eyes of the Spirit, we find that the seeming disappointment was a blessing.

“But he (God) had already sent a man ahead of his people to Egypt; it was Joseph, who was sold as a slave.”
Psalms 105:17 TPT

You see that?
What we could call a disappointment (i.e. the slavery) was actually a blessing (a way God sent Joseph into Egypt, for His purpose).

Today, I want you to have it established in your heart that God is a good God, that He knows what He is doing, and that He has your best interests at heart.

Just trust God more…
Love Him more…
Engage prayers more…
Serve Him better…
…and watch your life become an effulgence of the plans of Elohim.
The ATM may disappoint you, but it would always be to your blessing. It would always be God involved in your matter.

“Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. THAT’S WHY WE CAN BE SO SURE that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.
Romans 8:26-28 MSG
