Obstacles to receiving from God

  • It is important we learn the things that can prevent God from doing those hard things in our lives, this helps us to position our self to receive the best of God and to maximize the anointing and grace of God that is available for us as believers and as children of God.

1. An unteachable spirit

  • God gives instructions, and these instructions could come through pastors, parents and even friends.
  • If you don’t have a teachable spirit, you will miss out of these divine instructions.
  • Having an Unteachable spirit is having an unwillingness to change
  • There are two ways knowledge is gained – by Wisdom and By Experience
  • Experience entails learning from your mistake; the problem with learning from experience is that you’d have to wait to make the mistake before you discover it is wrong.
  • In the process of this time could be wasted, divine moments can be missed, so experience is the not the best route of learning.
  • When you go to the house of elderly people – spiritual, biological, that should be an opportunity to learn from their wealth of experience
  • Wisdom is a question away.
  • If you don’t learn to ask questions, you will suffer silently, not asking questions is “spiritual pride”; it shows you feel you know it all.
  • Humility is realizing that the more you know, the more you realize you don’t know.
  • God resists the proud, a proud person is unteachable, a person that does not know, and is not willing to know.
  • Life has a way of humbling people.
  • Psalm 45:4
  • Prosperity is directly linked to meekness
  • Colossians 3:12
  • James 1:21
  • Meekness is the right way to receive God’s Word when you are being taught. Meekness is having a teachable spirit.
  • You need a teachable spirit to experience the best from God

PRAYER: God give me a teachable spirit

  • Having a teachable spirit is not something we can do without the Holy Spirit.
  • It is important to be transformed. Transformation begins with the entrance of the word.
  • When you rely on your own strength you will fail again and again, rely on God’s spirit for help.
  • As you pray in the Holy Ghost, the spirit of God quickens a scripture which is the solution to that problem
  • For God to do hard things there has to be a scripture, God does nothing outside his word.
  • Consciously invite the Holy Spirit. You will need the Holy Spirit to receive the grace to embrace the word of God.
  • The moment you have nobody (mentors) above you that you are talking to you are finished.
  • People with Choleric temperament are often good leaders.
  • Phlegmatics have the weakness of procrastination. For the phlegmatic to be productive, they need external motivation.
  • The greatest advantage of phlegmatics is that they are extremely loyal.

2. Unpaid vows can block the operations of God

  • Ecclesiastes 5:4-5 – It is better not to vow, than to vow and not pay it.
  • If you made a vow, try to fulfil it.

3. Unforgiveness, Offences will block the God that does hard things

  • Mark 11:25-26
  • Forgiveness is not a suggestion, it is a requirement. People will always offend you, you have to learn to forgive. Learn to let go.
  • Don’t become contentious
  • Every mistake you are making right now has been made, there is no new mistake, learn from the mistakes of others
