The Kind Of Lover You Should Not Marry: The Scorner
Who is Mr. Scorner?
Who is Miss Scorner?
From time to time, I want to do a series of teachings on those you should not marry.
I want to show you some things that God showed me in my studies earlier this year which I taught in church.
The fact that you met someone in church really doesn’t mean anything.
That someone says he or she is a Christian is not really any plus this days.
You have to be led. You have to open your eyes.
Its not just a “pray” thing, it’s more of “”pray and watch.”
So, here is one of those people you should not walk down the aisle with.
Meet Mr. or Miss Scorner!
Don’t marry such a person?
Oh, Pastor why now? Will somebody not marry ni?
Ok, I will tell you why.
I know there are beautiful, delectably looking scorners. I know there are handsome, rich in the pocket scorners.
But a scorner is a scorner.
There are kind scorners, caring scorners, hardworking scorners, romantic scorners, thoughtful scorners, prayer leader scorners and so on and so forth.
But a scorner remains a scorner.
Now, what is it with a scorner?
Here it is.
A scorner CANNOT be blessed!
Psalms 1:1 (KJV)
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
Whoever is sitting in the seat of the scornful is not a blessed person.
Trust me, you don’t want to sit with a scorner talk less of being in bed with him or spending the rest of your life with one.
Now the scriptures says you should not sit in the seat of the scornful.
A scorner does not sin alone. That is the problem. He or she has to have a fellow scorner who he unloads on.
Now imagine being married to one.
Scorning is like a fellowship. That is why there is the seat of the scornful.
Someone is talking and scorning, the other is listening, laughing and scorning back.
It’s a deadly seat!
To scorn means – properly to make mouths at, that is, to scoff; have in derision, interpreter, make a mock, mocker, scorn.
Scorning is a sin you commit with the mouth.
In fact, look at how The Message Translation puts it:
Psalms 1:1 (MSG)
How well God must like you— you don’t hang out at Sin Saloon, you don’t slink along Dead-End Road, you don’t go to Smart-Mouth College.
Getting married to an unrepentant scorner is like enrolling in the Smart Mouth College! Chai!
Could it be that your mouth has been putting you in some real problems?
One reason why you cannot marry a scorner is because he enjoys scorning. It’s like food. An addiction.
A scorner enjoys scorning.
Proverbs 1:22 (KJV)
How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?
The scorner makes mouth at people, at authority figures and just at anybody.
He thinks he is smart mouthed, but in reality, he is big fool.
The scorner talks ill of his or her pastor, sits down to make fun of him, and delight in making jest of spiritual things.
It is a rebellion to authority, but he presents it as fun, beware of habitual critics of God and His work.
Beware of groups of people that sit down to tear people above them apart in gossip and rantings.
Beware of Whatsapp scorners, savage individuals who enjoy passing cryptic, nasty and terrible messages using emojis and images, making it look like jokes but in reality are attacking personalities.
Such a man or woman CANNOT be blessed.
A scorner is a mocker! Mocks at everything and everybody. Does it in reality, on Whatsapp and on twitter! He has a word for everybody, replies everybody in savage mode.
You really don’t want to live with such a person.
Is there a person in your life who does nothing but turn you into a refuse dump where he or she is pouring all his bitterness and anger on a daily basis, turning you into an emotional nurse and making you sit in the seat of the scornful?
Hey, watch that chair before you sit down!
Now these teaching is extensive, but here is just another reason why you need to run from the scorner.
God will scorn the scorner!
Proverbs 3:33-34 (KJV)
The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just. Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.
God will make mouth at such people when they try to pray!
This scripture can then begin to make sense gradually:
Proverbs 1:26 (KJV)
I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
May that not be your portion in Jesus name!
You see a reason why you have to run from the scorner? And per chance if you are the one scorning, you see a reason why you need to abandon the seat of the scornful?
It is not a good seat! Did I shake tables? Get up from the chair!
You need to get up and run!
I will stop here this morning!
May God grant you more understanding!
