The Lie You Were Told About Love

The Lie You Were Told About Love

Sometime back, I was watching a video of this couple on Instagram. It was an interview and they were being asked a couple of questions.

They said so many things but the one thing that struck me was how they said this one statement:

“Every day, when we wake up, we choose each other again and again.”
I don’t know if you understand the intentionality behind that statement.

They were telling themselves that regardless of your faults, your imperfections and all of that, I still choose you every day.

This is what love really means.

The society and the world has lied to us and made us believe that love is about one feeling that comes upon you when you see the person with whom you are in love. Loool!

Please, that is not even realistic. Not every time butterflies in your stomach.

Love is NOT a FEELING.

Love is not BUTTERFLIES in your stomach.

It’s a decision to stay with the person regardless of faults, imperfections and all of those other things that comes with the package.

You have got to make up your mind from the outset that you are going to stay with this person regardless.

Please, note that by faults, I do not mean dangerous imperfections like uncontrollable anger and abusive tendencies.

I am talking about imperfections or issues that stem from temperamental differences, family background differences and all. I hope you get that.

Continuing, this is why the Bible in 1 Corinthians 13 never says Love is a FEELING. That scripture begins by saying LOVE is PATIENT….

Being patient is a decision. You have to decide that I am going to be patient; I am going to calm down and really be patient with this person. That is how Love really works.

I am so sure that when Jesus was about to be brutally mistreated and nailed to the cross, He wasn’t feeling Butterflies in His stomach.

He didn’t even FEEL like being nailed.

Who would feel like being nailed because of butterflies in one’s stomach?

But LOVE for us propelled Him to.

Let’s get this, people of God. LOVE is NOT a FEELING. LOVE is not

BUTTERFLIES in your stomach. LOVE is a DECISION.

May the Lord grant us more understanding in Jesus name, Amen!!

I love my lover regardless of how I feel in the name of Jesus.

Lord, help me to love in accordance with your word in 1 Cor 13:4

Have I really made a decision to love my Bae or Boo regardless of their imperfections?

This is cool but the present day definition of love is worrisome. And as such one can hardly decide which way to go.

Help me Lord as I have taken the decision to always stay true with it.
