Very recently in my family we had to go through something tragic! And oh Lord, I was distraught! I was sad, angry and emotionally drained!
You know I had to start asking questions and of course the Holy Spirit replied me.
My Pastor, Pastor Dunamis Okunowo said in church on Sunday that ‘it is what you ask God that he will answer to’.
Me: But why Lord? Why did it have to happen to us?
God: I don’t expect this question from you daughter.
Me: The situation could have been avoided and you know how we so badly wanted this!
God: You mean after all? No you shouldn’t be asking me this. I expect more from you… I have a track record with you daughter, no you shouldn’t be asking me this question!
Then it dawned on me that God is ever faithful. He does good always. He has never failed and will never fail.
Yes the situation didn’t go as planned but then He is still God and how I felt wasn’t going to change that. Is it that God is emotionless and just doesn’t care?
Hebrews 4:15 (GNT) Our High Priest is not one who cannot feel sympathy for our weaknesses. On the contrary, we have a High Priest who was tempted in every way that we are, but did not sin.
We don’t serve Him because of what He will or will not do for us. We serve Him because we love Him and cannot do without Him.
You might have lost a job, a promotion, a loved one, a business deal, a relationship, failed an exam, and so on.
God is saying I am still God. If you know me, you will know that I have an unbroken track record of integrity. I only do good.
John 10:10 (TPT) A thief has only one thing in mind—he wants to steal, slaughter, and destroy. But I have come to give you everything in abundance, more than you expect—life in its fullness until you overflow!
Let’s even assume in your entire life, you feel God hasn’t done anything good for you, how about you being alive to read this?
You think the devil could not have killed you while in your mother’s womb? When you could not even pray or speak in tongues?
Yes the facts may be contrary but the truth is God is good. It is the enemy that does evil.
That’s why Apostle Paul was admonishing us in:
Ephesians 6:12 (TLB) For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against persons without bodies—the evil rulers of the unseen world, those mighty satanic beings and great evil princes of darkness who rule this world; and against huge numbers of wicked spirits in the spirit world.
Allow God grow you through the trials and tribulations. Be a tough one for the enemy to crack. Let him be disappointed each time he sees you praising instead of crying, dancing instead of mourning. Let him ever regret that he messed with you in the first place.
All things work together for the good of them that fear the Lord and are called according to His purpose. When you know this truth, you will not be mad at the person that jilted you. You will not be cross with your boss. You will not be bitter at that uncle or aunty that abused you. No way is the devil going to steal your joy!
Intensify your prayer life and study life. Understand this game of the spirit so you keep winning!
Don’t give up on yourself because God isn’t giving up on you! You don’t have to understand everything but isn’t that what the Christian faith is all about? We believe because we know, not because we see!
May God grant us understanding.
