This morning, the poet in me came up, so I decided to pen down a few thoughts.
I was sound asleep, but in my dreams I was wide awake.
Oh, listen! It’s the sound of my lover knocking, calling!
“Let me in, dear companion, dearest friend,
Open to me, my love,
My dove, my undefiled:
For my head is filled with dew,
And my locks with the drops of the night.
Not now I said
I have put off my coat
How shall I put it on?
I have washed my feet;
How shall I defile them?
My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the door,
And my stomach was filled with butterflies
I rose up to open to my beloved;
And my hands dropped with myrrh,
And my fingers with sweet smelling myrrh,
Upon the handles of the lock.
I opened to my beloved;
But my beloved had withdrawn himself, and was gone:
Where has he gone to? I said,
as I floated in my own tires
Tossing the night I choose to wait
for I am in distress
I will stand upon my watch
and set me upon the tower
and will watch to see what he will say unto me
and what I shall answer when I am reproved.
I called for my lover.
Behold, there he comes
His voice coming right before him
The voice of my Lover is upon the waters:
The God of glory thundereth:
The LORD is upon many waters.
The voice of my Lover is powerful;
His voice is full of majesty.
The voice of him that Loves me breaketh the cedars;
Yea, his voice breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.
He makes them also to skip like a calf;
Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.
The voice of my Lover divides the flames of fire.
His voice shakes the wilderness
And in his temple doth every one speak of his glory.
Look! Listen! There’s my lover!
Do you see him coming?
Behold, he cometh
Leaping upon the mountains,
Skipping upon the hills.
My beloved is like a roe
Or a young hart:
Behold, he standeth
Behind our wall,
Look at him there, on tiptoe at the gate,
All ears, all eyes—ready!
My lover has arrived
and he’s speaking to me!
He looks through the windows,
Shewing himself through the lattice.
My beloved spake, and said unto me,
Rise up, my love, my fair one,
And come away.
Let me see your face,
let me hear your voice.
For your voice is soothing
and your face is ravishing.
This morning, the lover of your soul is reaching out to you.
Don’t keep him waiting. Open your heart to him in obedience.
