‘But mum you can’t talk to me that way, I am an adult’…
Jessica was shouting at the top of her voice. She was angry because her mother told her to go to the market for her on her way back from work the next day.
She refused, saying she was going to be tired and that her younger sister should go instead.
Her Mother: it is you I want to go
Jessica: I will soon go to my husband’s house anyway, then you will stop disturbing me
Jessica’s mum: is that the way you will be behaving in your husband’s house or is that the way you would reply your mother-in-law?
Lamentations 3:27 (AMP) says It is good for a man that he should bear the yoke [of divine disciplinary dealings] in his youth.
Listen to what the message bible says in Lamentations 3:27
It’s a good thing when you’re young to stick it out through the hard times.
Truthfully, many of us youths want to run away from certain disciplines that are necessary for our lives.
We sometimes think that our parents, pastors and spiritual fathers are too hard on us. But you know what, no matter the level of knowledge in the world today or the level of sophisticated technology, God’s standard cannot and will not reduce.
Now is the time to fast. Now is the time to pray. Now is the time to volunteer. Now is the time to read that book. Now is the time to take that job. Now is the time to learn that skill. Now is the time to spend your energy and time on that which profits. Now is the time to say no to sin.
You don’t want to be doing the wrong things at the right time. Neither do you want to be doing the right things at the wrong time. Some don’t even have right or wrong time.
Please, don’t gamble with your life now that you are still ‘young’. It takes a whole person to work out a relationship. It takes a person who has built up capacity to stick it through marriage.
Don’t run away from challenges. Face it and conquer. You are a victor. You might be the reason why someone out there is still holding on. Don’t give up just yet. God is counting on you. Your generation is counting on you. Your children are counting on you.
Have you seen some old people do certain things and you are wondering what they were doing in their younger days? Though motivational speaking has tried to make them feel they can do anything anytime but really, there are some things that can be too late.
Don’t let the young ones use you as a negative example to learn from. Be a positive inspiration. Don’t gamble with God and play away your destiny. Say no to sin and stay focused on God!
Things don’t just happen. They are made to happen. Make things happen in your own time!
Proverbs 24:10 (NLT)
If you fail under pressure, your strength is too small.
Finally remember that your spouse is going to need that strength of yours someday. The Bible says iron sharpeneth iron. Don’t go into a relationship to become a liability. You want to be able to add value to the younger generation when you are older too.
Remember that you cannot give what you don’t have.
God bless you.
