This piece is inspired by the teachings of my Pastor, Pastor Dunamis on Sunday 7th July, 2019.
Wherever the bible refers to an act as folly, we should be swift to make a detour, regardless how far we have gone threading on such foolish expedition or path.
This morning I will highlight 5 things the scriptures refer to as folly most especially in a wife.
These submissions are not my personal assertions but I have grown to believe and accept whatever the scriptures says to be true.
Here are five things a foolish wife does.
1. She does not read nor learn about how her home can be better.
Provs 9:13(Amp) The foolish woman is restless and noisy; She is NAIVE and easily misled and thoughtless, and knows nothing at all [of eternal value].
One of the things that shows folly in a wife is been naive. I’m not saying we should know everything as a wife and mother, but you cannot afford to be naive concerning things that has to do with the growth of your home.
You have to keep learning, with the understanding that marriage is a journey and its about learning what makes your marriage work.
You have to add meaningful quota to your marriage. You cannot be thoughtless about issues that matter in your marriage. Failure to do this makes one a fool.
2. She does not understand nor invest in things of eternal value.
Things of eternal value like praying, reading, studying the word, giving to the things of the kingdom and so on.
A wise wife needs to know that it all does not end here, so one cannot afford to put all she’s got on ephemeral things alone. Let your time count for things that will eternally matter.
3. She Ignores Spiritual Principles
Prov 14:1(Amp) The wise woman builds her house [on a foundation of godly precepts, and her household thrives], But the foolish one [who lacks spiritual insight] tears it down with her own hands [by ignoring godly principles].
A foolish woman is the one that ignores spiritual principles. These principles are all over the scriptures, ranging from submission to honor to prayers etc. Ignoring these principles to favor non spiritual principles will only amount to folly.
4. She does not make a positive use of her mouth.
Prov 18:6 (Amp) A fool’s lips bring contention and strife, and his mouth invites a beating.
When most of the things your mouth spews gets you into contention and strife with your husband, then folly is the root cause.
Contention and Strife with your husband is close to how you use your mouth. So it is wisdom to make a positive use of ones mouth.
5. She is Confident of her person.
Prov. 28:26 (Amp) He who trusts confidently in his own heart is a [dull, thickheaded] fool, But he who walks in [skillful and godly] wisdom will be rescued.
It is absolute folly to rely on what you possess as a virtue to sustain you and your marriage in the absence of Godly wisdom.
