What Are Your Expectations?

What Are Your Expectations?

What exactly are you expecting from God concerning your career, relationship and other areas of your life?

Let me tell you a story I heard about one time ago.

There was this village that was undergoing great famine. The draught was intense and they were believing God for rain.

So the village heads decided that they gather at the village square to appeal to God and beg God to send the rain.

All the villagers gathered together at the village square but only one child brought an umbrella.

Sometimes, if we think about it well enough, we come before the presence of God with no expectation.

When we come before the presence of God, praying to Him and asking Him to change our status, to change our story, to change our situation or whatever change it is we are currently believing God for, we round off our prayers with absolutely no expectation that God will definitely answer us.

We round off our prayers with the same sad countenance as when we first began praying about the issue.

See what this scripture says about EXPECTATION.

Proverbs 23:18 KJV
For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off.

What does this tell you?

God has promised us that our expectations will not be cut off. God takes our EXPECTATIONS very seriously.

And He can identify an expectant heart when He sees one. Expectations are visible. They are not hidden.

How do you know that you are expectant?

You can know that you are expectant by the way you act.
After praying to God for a partner, for instance, you know you are expectant when you start rejoicing even before your future partner shows up!!

Look at the life of Joseph! As soon as Pharoah sent for him, he shaved himself and changed his clothes in EXPECTATION.

See what the bible says:

Pharaoh sent for Joseph at once, and he was quickly brought from the prison. After he shaved and changed his clothes, he went in and stood before Pharaoh.
Genesis 41:14 NLT

Even though Joseph was hastily sent for by Pharoah, he still made sure he replaced his prisoner clothes with better ones, and shaved, EXPECTING that he wasn’t going back to prison. And he didn’t!

What are your expectations? Are they bigger than what you are currently facing right now?

If not, it is time to build up some EXPECTATION!
It is time to start EXPECTING things to work out for you!
It is time to start EXPECTING that God will show up in a MIGHTY way for you and that God will meet you at the exact point of your need.

May the Lord grant you more understanding in Jesus name.

I constantly have an EXPECTANT heart that is always ready to receive from God.

In the name of Jesus, my expectations shall not be cut off.

Expectations are not hidden, they are visible.

From today, start acting like a person with expectations.

Prov 23
