What Singles Can Learn From Job’s Love Story

I love love and certainly I love love stories! They always end happily ever after…lol. Most importantly, God is love.

Well that happily ever after is mostly in fantasy. In reality, that is not always the case. But you can decide whether you get a happily ever after or not.

I recently got a revelation of one very rare love story and I would like to share with you.

It’s the story of a man called Job.

We all know how he was persecuted by Satan and all and suffered a great deal till he eventually overcame.

One interesting personality in this story however is Job’s wife.

Job 1:5 (GNT) The morning after each feast, Job would get up early and offer sacrifices for each of his children in order to purify them.

Are you seeing what I am seeing? Each morning that Job rose up to worship God or have quiet time, Mrs Job was probably sleeping!

Maybe her husband loved her so much he didn’t want to stress her. She might have even had breakfast in bed… Lol.

Nobody is disputing the fact that a man should be a King and a Priest in his home but the wife should equally be able to stand in the gap when necessary.

The woman is not just the flesh of your flesh, she is also the bone of your bone. Bone represents stamina, stability and strength in the spirit.

Job probably loved her to a fault! Little did he know that he was doing himself a disservice!

Job 1:8 (GNT) Did you notice my servant Job? the Lord asked. “There is no one on earth as faithful and good as he is. He worships me and is careful not to do anything evil.”

God could boast about Job but the boast could also have been about his household. Maybe if Job’s wife had agreed together with her husband and stood in the gap for him, maybe the persecution would not have been possible or at least that long.

Job 2:9 (GNT) His wife said to him, “You are still as faithful as ever, aren’t you? Why don’t you curse God and die?”

See sister, if brother is not after your spiritual well being, and it is only ice cream and chocolate love you people are doing, then something is wrong somewhere!

Brother, if sister wants only the gleeful part of your life and is not interested in capacity building, then you are on your own.

In this kingdom, it is two that becomes one, not half that becomes one. Two whole persons. Love is 100-100 and not 50-50!

Ecclesiastes 4:12 (GNT) Two people can resist an attack that would defeat one person alone. A rope made of three cords is hard to break.

Job, Mrs Job and God would have made a three fold cord that would have been hard to break for Mr devil.

Another reason it was easy for the enemy to attack the home was through the children.

Why was Job scared for them? Did he not trust the quality of spiritual training he gave them? Maybe he did but since the mother of the home was not in her rightful place, the children just did their own thing. ‘We are cool, daddy’s grace will cover for us’, they probably said.

There is something about children seeing their parents worship God together.

Remember Eli’s sons too? Yes their father tried to correct them but maybe all they needed was a mother in her rightful place.

Don’t take for granted the choice of who to marry!

Your salvation will not adequately cover for that of your spouse, much more your children.

Let your love story end happily ever after, read by angels for eternity.

May God help us.
