What To Do When You Hit Your Lowest

What To Do When You Hit Your Lowest

The walk from the petty store to Mabel’s house was a long one. Many things had crossed her mind. She thought of how life had been so unfair to her, wondering if she was paying for someone’s past sins, or peradventure she was just too unlucky and unfortunate.

In the past few months, life has been hard on Mabel. She had lost her job, was dumped by her longtime lover, now about to be kicked out of her apartment, she just could not fathom why it came for her all at once.

A friend once said, when you have hit rock bottom and survived, there are very few things in life that can scare you.

Like Mabel, many of us have been stripped of the things we worked hard to get and others what they were given.
Rock bottom they say is the best place to start building, so never be afraid to hit low. The way to the top begins from beneath. You have to start your ladder from it’s the lowest point, there are no two ways about that.

Take for instance, if you intend to build a house, you don’t start by making the roof, the foundation must first be laid.

Psalm 11:3 KJV
If the foundations be destroyed, What can the righteous do?

God’s joy is that we have an expected end, but whatever doesn’t begin well can never end well. Remember how the old covenant had to be done away with in other for the new one to have access.

As children of God, we may not have it rosy at our beginnings, but God will always be in the picture fixing things, therefore, we just have to look the way he sees us.

The story of Prophet Jonah is an example of how you try to do your thing against all odds and get yourself in trouble.

Jonah 1: 15-17 KJV
15 So they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from her raging.
16Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows.
17Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

It took the belly of the fish to humble Jonah and correct his rebellion.
Some other are like Job, who had to prove himself to the enemy and God. Showing that the things he had weren’t the determinate of his service to God.

The bible says God will not allow things we can’t handle come to us, and in secular life, we have to pass through trials and challenges to develop strong character.

James 1:2-3 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.

Mabel might have been saved from a life of heartache with just heartbreak and she might also be in line for an upgrade in accommodation arrangements with eviction from a shared room with 3 people in a ‘face me I kick you’ setting.

Deut 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

We have to know that God is with us all the way.
The devil might come with the thoughts that you have sinned and that is why your prayers are not being answered or you are cursed that is why you can’t be in a good relationship.

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.

He puts in those thoughts because he wants to steal your joy, kill your belief in God and destroy your standing with Jesus.

What we can do at this point is to trust that God hasn’t backed out and that like Issac, He won’t leave us until all He has spoken concerning our lives have been made manifest.
The most important thing is what Paul said in

2Corintians 12 KJV
9And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly, therefore, will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

For when I am weak, then am I strong.

Lord increase strength in me when I am weak

God’s strength abides in time of weakness

Choose to always trust God
