Wisdom For Singles To Handle Unhealthy Thoughts

Wisdom For Singles To Handle Unhealthy Thoughts

There’s one thing constant about life. That is the fact that nothing happens suddenly. Everything takes a process. A child takes nine months to develop. A marriage takes stages. A good food takes time. A man doesn’t become a drunk the day he grabs a bottle of beer.
Judas didn’t betray Jesus the day he kissed him.

John 13:2 KJV
And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him;

There are times when the thought of frolicking around just whistles past your ears. There are times when you just feel like being naughty with that next door neighbor. There are times when you just want to soft pedal on this “Christianity stuff” and enjoy your life a bit, especially when you are surrounded by the wrong set of people.

This was where Judas found himself. A harmless thought to betray the master. At this stage, Judas could have rejected the antics of the devil. He could have fought the thought and rejected it.

When negative thought patterns and ideas start flowing your way, don’t just leave them hanging in your head, send them packing!

2 Cor 10:4-5 KJV
(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Did you see that?
You cast down such imaginations by speaking God’s word to them. This was what Judas failed to realize and it led to something disastrous.

John 13:27 KJV
And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.

The devil put a thought in his head and since he (Judas) did nothing about it, he (the devil) began to fan it to flame. After a while, he felt “putting the thought is not enough, let me take it further by entering him”. Like my pastor would jokingly say “ the devil couldn’t trust any of his demons for this assignment, so he entered him himself”.

What is the crux of this devotional? Kill those thoughts before they kill you. Destroy those negative ideas before they do you harm. Once you notice something in your mind or heart that is not in consonance with God’s word, don’t think it will go after a while. You have the responsibility to sieve what enters your heart and mind, don’t be irresponsible!
